Mr. Carbajal graduated from Elmhurst College with a degree in Physical Education and a certificate in Health.  Having taught for two years prior, he joined the Peirce P.E. Department in 2018 as the K-4th Physical Education teacher and Boys Athletic Director.

When not at school, Mr. Carbajal enjoys watching the Chicago Cubs, working out, playing a variety of sports, spending time with my family, reading, and cooking.

Mr. Carbajal shared the following regarding his teaching philosophy, "I firmly believe that students are special and posses a wide variety of skills and talents. It is my mission to expose my students to a wide variety of activities, to discover, and enhance these skills. As a Physical Education teacher, my students will learn the importance of being fit and healthy to encourage students to live and maintain a healthy lifestyle throughout their lives."
Originally from Elkhart, Indiana, Mr. Leighton earned his Bachelor's Degree from Indiana University South Bend and Master's Degree in Sports Administration from Valparaiso University. With a long history of basketball accomplishments, including earning the county's first State Championship as a member of his high school team, the titles of All-American and Conference MVP at Indiana University, Mr. Leighton went on to play a season of professional basketball in China post graduation.

Prior to teaching at Peirce, Mr. Leighton taught high school Health/Physical Education, was the Athletic Director and Head Boys Basketball Coach at DRW College Prep in North Lawndale neighborhood on the west side of Chicago. His earlier career included working as a College Scout and as a Graduate Assistant Men's Basketball Coach for Coach Bryce Drew at Valparaiso University.

A resident of Edgewater, Mr. Leighton lives with his wife, Brittney, daughter Jordyn, and son Titan.
